MALE, 1 YEAR OLD
Mango is a 1 year old pittie mix. He is such a sweet boy that would absolutely spend the day with his head in your lap while you scratch his ears. Mango had a rough start to life spending about 8 months living on the streets in Mexico. He was taken to the shelter in May after being hit by a motorcycle and was almost dead of starvation. Mango has made a miraculous recovery and is looking for his forever home. Very early in his life he had a different accident and suffered a stifle injury to his knee. It is an old injury and healed while he was still on the streets. Because of this injury he has some mild arthritis to his knee and the bones are slightly smaller in that leg. Now there isn't a great option to fixing it. We could amputate his leg or possibly do a very painful surgery that may just make things worse and more painful. We have opted to leave his leg because when you watch him run, play, fetch, and jump it doesn't look like it bothers him at all. Mango does great with his foster mom's dog, but was a little reactive to the neighbors much more energetic lab. He has also had foster puppy siblings and was really good with them. He did resource guard towards the dog with his food but was not like that with his foster mom at all. We have been working on that with him and he is getting better at it. He is learning that there is always food and there will always be enough for everyone. Mango is not okay with cats. He probably had to eat a few during his street days. He is learning basic commands, sleeps in a crate at night, and is learning house training. He will make such a fantastic companion. He is such a loving puppy!
